Switch up the music

I love music. I mostly listen to pop, electro-pop, and house music. I like anything I can dance to. This makes my taste almost all fast-paced with strong beats and happy (but I'll admit, often meaningless) lyrics. Leaving hardly any room for slow, sad songs.

Humans have connections and strong emotional ties that are triggered by music, so listening can significantly affect your mood. Therefore, when I listen to music, my mood is boosted considerably higher than some of my other friends who listen to slower songs with sad lyrics.

An added benefit is that I dance to my music. No lying down with headphones, I just can't stay still!  Dancing releases endorphins, and endorphins make you happy. Perfect!

Next time you're sad, stick on what my cousin would call some "sick beats" (anything you can move to) and dance! Just jumping up and down or swinging your arms around works, no need to take classes.
Alternatively, if you don't enjoy dancing at all, try switching up your sad songs for some songs with inspirational lyrics. Or try a new music genre. My Grandparents actually enjoy the piano covers of Skrillex!

Quest for Cloud Nine idea #1 Switch up the music.

Start a happy playlist on iTunes, Spotify or your iPod, and flick it on when you're getting ready in the morning. Instant mood booster.
